Russell Westbrook, Devin Booker joins Michael Jordan in the exclusive 2-man club after beating Clippers Devin Booker and Phoenix Suns dance to the second round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs Russell Westbrook and the bang-up Los Angeles Clippers took care of business with a gentleman’s sweep in the first round.
With Paul George missing the entire series and Kawhi Leonard sitting out multiple games, the Clippers were able to take advantage of a team that shot at least 60% from the field and 80% from the line in the playoff series. Another Michael Jordan, Booker, and the Suns lost their best perimeter defenders in the first round in 1992.
“Devin Booker of the @Suns is only the second player in NBA history to average 35.0+ PPG. He was able to join Michael Jordan’s stat club in the NBA playoffs. The win came as the Clippers focused on slowing down Durant against a Clippers who had no answer for Phoenix’s offense. He shot 46.7 percent from behind the arc and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line.
Booker averaged 37.2 on 60.2 percent shooting from the field. He was able to find plenty of openings on defense and consistently exploited those cracks. Although his percentages dipped slightly against the Denver Nuggets in the second round, the Suns should still be fine.
Devin Booker’s impressive first-round win comes as he thinks a regression is imminent in regard to his shooting ability.
