Lizzo won Biggest at this year’s Detroit Music Awards
The homegrown singer’s disco-tinged hit “About Damn Time” won best national single and best video, major budget and her 2022 EP You’re Special, Love Lizzo won best national EP or mixtape. Lizzo was the big winner at the 32nd Annual Detroit Music Awards, sweeping the categories with four wins.
Smokey Robinson is set to announce the Best National Album category. Lizzo’s studio album Special won. It reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. reached the 2nd position. Adding to her growing collection of major trophies are an MTV Video Music Award and a People’s Choice Award for “About Damn Time.”
A short video sent a confirmation message. “What, everyone? Winning not one, not two, but three, or four Detroit Music Awards is a tremendous honor. You all know how important this is to me. Organizers, fans, and residents of the Motor City Lizzo.These are Lizzo’s first Detroit Music Awards, the Grammy Award. Motown is the birthplace of modern pop music, honest and very black music.
