Ravens star Orlando Brown arrested for domestic violence
A “homeless” former TV sitcom actor and rapper have been arrested after attacking family members’ home with a hammer. Orlando Brown was arrested in Ohio on domestic violence charges.
Brown has appeared in shows like That’s So Raven, Two of a Kind, and Family Matters. According to TMZ, he was apprehended in Lima, about 200km north of Cincinnati, after local police “received a call about a fight”.
An entertainment website reported on Friday that the actor’s alleged altercation was with his brother, Page Six reported from the New York Post. Brown’s brother Matthew reportedly told police he let the former star stay with him because he was homeless and didn’t want a family member to go to a shelter.
Matthew told police that his brother was acting “crazy” at home, accused him of raping his wife, and then came at him in a “threatening manner” with a knife blade and a hammer, TMZ reported. Brown could not physically beat his brother.
The arrest comes four years after the 35-year-old made headlines for an intervention-style interview with television’s Dr. Phil McGraw. The Dr. Phil appearance comes at the end of a tumultuous year for Brown, in which he has been arrested nearly every other month in 2018, for everything from theft and drug possession to resisting a public officer and domestic battery.
He made headlines in May of the same year for getting his former co-star Raven Simone’s face tattooed on his chest. In September 2018, the rapper pleaded no contest to drug possession and spent time in jail for trying to pick the locks on the doors of a friend’s restaurant.
Actor Dr. Speaking to McGraw, he wore snake-eye contacts while talking about his time behind bars, noting that he was “locked [up] and set up for no reason.” Brown said he didn’t want to “set aside another 90 days” for treatment for being away from his family for his addiction.
The sitcom actor, who appeared on Family Matters, explained that during that time he aimed to “go back into that life” as a father and “figure out who everyone is.” However, he gave the talk show host different names and ages for his offspring during the conversation.
Earlier this year, the songwriter shared her apologies in a December 2018 interview and thanked Dr. McGraw for “opening the door to show people who don’t think they need help to get help.” He told musician Cam Capone in August that he was “hiding” from the viral conversation, saying, “I’m waiting to die at this point. But realistically, I have goals.”
