The Witcher 3: The Witcher 3’s next-gen patch coming on December 14th
The Witcher 3:The next-gen patch for The Witcher 3 will arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC on December 14th. If you already own the base game on PC, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One (any version, not just the full edition), you’ll get the patch.
It includes upgraded visuals, all DLC packs and subsequent content. The drops, inspired by the Netflix series, are free to grab.
If you’re still hanging on to PS4 or Xbox One, those versions (as well as Nintendo Switch) will receive an update that includes “a number of improvements” and access to content inspired by the Netflix TV show.
But CD Projekt Red has not shared a release date for this update. CD Projekt Red shared that the update brings ray-traced graphics and faster loading times, the latter of which makes playing on a console almost as good as playing on a powerful PC.
The publisher plans to share more information next week on its Twitch stream. Since the PS5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles have been available for two years (though not always easy to purchase), next-gen patch releases are becoming increasingly rare.
This particular update seemed to have decidedly tougher development. Because its release was first delayed indefinitely, then pushed from Q2 2022 to Q4.
The Witcher 3’s vast land mass and its many memorable main and side quests seem like a tough challenge for any developer to take on, especially one that is simultaneously struggling to solve Cyberpunk 2077’s problems. Watching this will be very entertaining for everyone. So this is a must-see.
