“LAFC Secures Spot in Concachampions Final with Dominant 3-0 Victory Against Union”

Los Angeles FC dominated the Philadelphia Union 3-0 on Tuesday night to advance to the Concacaf Champions League final for the second time in the team’s history. The reigning MLS champions lost 2-1 to Liga MX team Tigres in the 2020 Concachampions final in Orlando.

Philadelphia Union’s Concachampions dream ended at the semifinal stage for the second time in three years, with Club América knocking them out 4-0 in 2021. LAFC took an early lead and never looked back, with Timothy Tillman scoring in the 13th minute off a corner kick.

Philly goalie Andre Blake made some impressive saves, but LAFC held their guests to just two shots on goal. Right back Olivier Mbaizo was shown a second yellow card in the 59th minute after a reckless tackle, deflating the Philly balloon. Kwadwo Opoku and Dennis Bouanga scored late in the game to seal the deal for LAFC.

The team now awaits their opponent in the finals, which is guaranteed to be a Liga MX team. León will host Tigres on Wednesday night, with the visitors leading 2-1 from the first leg. If Tigres draw or win, it will be a rematch of the 2020 Concachampions final.

León has only reached one Concacaf final in 1993, while Tigres has a record of 1-3 in CCL finals.
