General Hospital star Sonia Eddy died suddenly on Monday at the age of 55. The cause of death was not revealed. Eddie’s girlfriend, Octavia Spencer, first announced Eddie’s death on Instagram.
Soap Opera Digest confirmed with the show’s executive producers. “The world has lost another creative angel,” Spencer wrote. “Her @generalhospitalabc fans will miss her.”
“The lights in the hub of Nurse’s Station will dim a bit now, but her spirit and light will live on in both the show and our set,” Valentini said in a statement.
“On behalf of the entire GH cast and crew, we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and fans.” Eddie is a real-life nurse practitioner. She joined the cast of the soap in 2006.
Eddie has starred in The Drew Carey Show, Martin, Married… with Children, and Beverly Hills, 90210 since 1995. She was seen in movies like Patch Adams, and Blast.
The Past, Nutty Professor II: The Klumps and Pee-wee’s Big Holiday. She played the lead role in the comedy Those Who Can’t and continued to make guest appearances on shows such as Fresh Off the Boat, PEN15, and The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey.
