US, Mexico to Bid to Co-host 2027 Women’s World Cup

The U.S. soccer federation and the Mexico Football Federation are planning to bid to co-host the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

The auction was announced on Wednesday night, the deadline set by FIFA for submission of expressions of interest. Bid contracts are due by May 19 and formal auctions are due by December 8.

FIFA plans to publish the evaluation report in May 2024 before FIFA’s Congress votes on May 17. South Africa announced a single bid and Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands announced a joint bid.

Brazil’s sports minister says the nation will bid. The U.S. tournament was hosted in 1991 and 1999. The Americans are champions four times, winning in 1991, 1999, 2015, and 2019.

Australia and New Zealand are the co-hosts of this year’s tournament, which will be held from July 20 to August. 20. The U.S., Mexico, and Canada are co-hosting the Men’s World Cup in 2026. U.S. in 1994 and Mexico hosted in 1970 and 1986.
