Walnuts: Eating every day may control BP & BMI
Eating walnuts every day can decrease blood pressure and prevent weight gain. A new case study has revealed that walnuts are very effective in reducing the risk of diabetes and heart-related diseases. According to an article published in the journal Nutrition, Metabolism, Cardiovascular Diseases, people who are taking these nuts had lower blood pressure than those who didn’t.
According to researchers from the University of Minnesota, walnuts have a unique position as a nut rich in containing Omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Further studies are needed to confirm the new research, the researchers said. Previous research suggests that consuming walnuts can prevent diabetes and heart disease. These results have not yet been backed up by a clinical trial.
For the study, the team analyzed data from 3,341 Americans over the age of 45. First, they were interviewed about their food habits. 7 and 20 and 25 years of study have been linked. The 340 people who ate them ate an average of 0.6 ounces per day. This is equivalent to seven calories. They were invited back for a health check-up where BMI was measured. Their health information was also collected along with their blood pressure.
Finally, scientists suggest that wallets lead to less weight gain and a better diet.
