Re-release of the remix version of Gentle Giant’s eighth album Interview
U K prog legends Gentle Giant reissue their 1976 album Interview on 180g vinyl. In particular, Steven Wilson’s remix album, Sky Blue, was released on June 16 by Chrysalis Records, with a special colored vinyl version on CD and 5.1 Blu-ray.
The interview was recorded by the band line-up of Derek Shulman, Ray Shulman, Gary Green, Kerry Minner, and John Weathers. All three tracks consist of brief interview segments performed in the studio. This included Phil Sutcliffe, the writer of Sounds at the time.
The interview is the band’s eighth studio album, originally released on 23 April 1976. This album is a unique album made up of radio interviews. This new version includes the album’s atmospheric and 5.1 surround sound remix from Steven Wilson as well as the original 1976 stereo mix and the original 1976 quad mix instrumental mix and a custom mix of each track, all on CD/blu, says Ray’s brother Derek.
He has been suffering from illness for a long time. I didn’t stay with him until his battle with illness was over. I know he is at peace now. A full tribute to Ray will appear in the next issue of Prog Magazine. The band’s co-founder, bassist, and composer Ray Shulman died earlier this month at the age of 73.
